The compact compass consists of a with a drawer in a protective housing. The drawer is equipped with a circular dial assembly with adjustable declination correction and a liquid damped compass needle. The housing has an open sight on top and a mirror that extends under the circular dial enabling viwing both target and dial at the same time. The compass is non-radio active, magnetic, unmounted, and suitable for field operations in extreme weather conditions.

Cardinal markings:
N on protractor
Magnetic balancing:
Global needle, The needle is independent of the magnetic inclination and functions at all earth magnetic field locations.
Needle design:
Red for north and black for south. The needle has a larger luminescent area in the north end and a small in the south end. The north end of the needle has two parallel red lines next to it to enable more precise alignment with the orienting arrow. The markings of the needle are the same on both the upper and the lower side. The needle is slightly tilted to give room for thermal contraction in cold. The center of the needle is transparent and the damping shape of the needle is also transparent. The hub of the needle features a NdFeB ring shaped magnet.
Needle length:
32 mm
Needle movement damping method:
Non-freezing transparent liquid filled compass capsule with the absence of bubbles in the operating temperature range at sea level.
Compass capsule:
Hermetically sealed transparent PMMA capsule, diameter 33 mm.
Orienting arrow:
Two white lines to allign with the north end of the needle. Two white dots on each side of the orienting arrow at + and - 60 degrees used to navigate around large obstacles.
Declination corection:
The angle between orienting arrow and orieting lines can be adjusted to compensate for declination. The angle is adjusted by turning a sprocket using a flat screw driver delivered on the lanyard. The declination correction scale is in degrees with a two degrees resolution and is marked with a number every 20˚. The declination correction scale is full 360˚.
Protractor index:
A luminescent arrow shape next to the protractor.
Clinometer
Clinometer feature:
Transparent weight with red line print hanging from center of the compass capsule when the compass is kept vertically on its side. The bottom side of the compass has an inclination scale that is read either from the bottom side of the compass when using transversal method or via the mirror when using longitudal method.
Clinometer scale:
Degrees 0-±90˚ with 2˚ resolution
Sighting Tools
Mirror:
Mirror inside the housing that can slide out under the compass and then pushed down in one preset angle. The compass including the orienting arrow and magnetic compass needle can be viewed from below in the mirror while sighting a target with an open sight at the top of the compass.
Open sight:
Open sight with luminous markings on top of compass that is used together with the the mirror under the compass to align the compass with the target.
Luminescent features
Luminescent material:
SrAl2O4
Compass Needle:
Area on the north end of the compass needle and a narrow line at the south end of the needle
Orienting arrow:
Two lines, one on each side of the north end of the orienting indicator and in addition two sets of two dots showing 60˚right and left.
Protractor index:
Arrow shaped index with luminescent material next to the protractor.
Direction of travel:
Three luminescent features along the center line of the compass.
