Needle design:
Red for north and black for south. The needle has a luminescent area in the north end. The markings of the needle are the same on both the upper and the lower side. The center of the needle is transparent and the damping shape of the needle is also transparent. The hub of the needle features a NdFeB ring shaped magnet.

Orienting arrow:
Two white lines to allign with the north end of the needle. Two white dots on each side of the orienting arrow at + and - 60 degrees used to navigate around large obstacles.
Declination corection:
The angle between orienting arrow and orieting lines can be adjusted to compensate for declination. The angle is adjusted by turning a sprocket using a flat screw driver delivered on the lanyard. The declination correction scale is in mils with a 50 mils resolution and is marked with a number every 400 mils. The declination correction scale is full mils degrees.
